After an incredible month that included winning back to back MLG 1k AMs and grinding every single online tournament that awarded pro points, Onslaught was awarded a coveted starting spot in pool play for the UMG Scuf 50k in Washington, DC. As one of the top 16 teams in the field, instead of open bracket play our tournament would start right off by playing Optic, Rise, and TCM to try to advance to Championship Sunday.
True to form, our first scheduled pool play match was against the powerhouse that is Optic, on the mainstage and streamed for all the world to see. While we battled and hung close, we ultimately were swept 3-0 by the eventual champions. After another humbling 3-0 sweep at the hands of a hot Rise team, we were staring at a quick 0-2 pool play hole.
Saturday brought an early start to the day, as we faced off against Stunner Gaming, who had advanced through open bracket to make it to pool play. An extremely close series saw oS fall 3-2, mathematically eliminating us from pool play advancement. For our final pool play game, we faced the Aches and Teepee-led TCM squad, succumbing 3-1 after another extremely close series to fall into the Losers Championship bracket.
In the Losers Championship bracket, we squared off first with Devoid Gaming, dispatching them 3-1 to advance to play another hot team, Lethal Gaming. Continuing the theme of close matches, Onslaught was finally eliminated 3-0, with a final placement of 17-20 for UMG Washington. While disappointing in that we always shoot for 1st, the experience of getting to pool play and facing some of the best teams and talent in the game was awesome, and something that not every organization can achieve.
