Here at Onslaught, we are no strangers to emerging esports titles. Having previously been among the first organizations to recognize the potential in games such as Smite, Gears of War, Rocket League and PUBG, it should be no surprise when we continue to blaze a trail for others to follow.
With Epic’s incredible smash-hit Fortnite, it almost feels like cheating to be at the forefront again. Fortnite has seen a meteoric rise both in it’s player base and viewership on streaming platforms like Twitch and Mixer, recently being crowned the most viewed game on Twitch and effectively doubling down on its claim of best Battle Royale title.
With fast-paced action, near weekly updates of new character skins, dance moves, emotes and even weapons and entire points of interest, Epic appears to be leading the pack. Combining these elements with the cartoony graphics and ground-breaking “fort” building mechanics leads to an highly entertaining viewing experience – something other Battle Royale games have been criticized as needing to improve.
Based on these incredible early metrics (and influenced by the simple fact the game is FUN to play – we’re hooked ourselves) Onslaught is pleased to announce that we will be creating a professional-caliber PC team with one goal in mind – to become the most dominant team in North American Fortnite esports. We are equally enthusiastic to announce that, breaking our traditional mold, we will be assembling the team from some of the best players in North America independently.Zach “SizableSquid” Bartel, Captain for Onslaught Fortnite
On that note, Onslaught is stoked to introduce you to Zach “SizableSquid” Bartel as the Captain and initial building block for Onslaught Fortnite. As a former Call of Duty, Halo and CS:GO player Zach is well-versed in competitive esports and the intangibles it takes in order to achieve success. An absolutely beast in-game already with multiple kill and sniper records, SizableSquid has been an early force in the blossoming Fortnite tournament scene.
While we wait for Epic to finish fine-tuning their game and release private servers that will allow a full-blown tournament and league ecosystem to develop, Onslaught will use this time to develop the chemistry, strategies and in-game mechanics that will propel the team into the upper echelons of the competitive sphere. With Squid as our starting point, we feel that it is only a matter of time before Onslaught fields one of the best teams in Fortnite, bar none.
“Fortnite represents such an intriguing play for us”, said COO Jen Dalton. “With its incredibly popularity, finding the right pieces to pair with Zach is both easy and difficult – there are just so many options. We are confident that building this way will give us a great chance to unearth some amazing talent and produce a winning formula!”
Founder and CEO Patrick O’Brien sees potential for Onslaught to distinguish itself in the eyes of top players. “I think that playing for Onslaught brings with it a lot of intangible benefits” commented O’Brien. “Not only do we have a winning tradition across a bunch of esports titles, but we have a pretty special relationship with Epic and their Esports division. We are looking forward to developing not only our team, but also helping to guide the growth of the game as a whole.”
With an addicting game formula and an active developer who has their fingers on the pulse of the fan base the sky is the limit for Fortnite Esports. And with Onslaught’s experienced management paired with some of the most talented players in North America, the ceiling is equally as high for Onslaught Fortnite. Think you have what it takes?
