With seasons that last a little over a month, the format gives the best of the best on both consoles a platform to compete against other high-tier competition. And for the past 3 seasons, no one has managed to unseat the undisputed king of PS4 Fortnite – Onslaught!
We sat down with each player to pick their brain on just what it takes to remain on top of the competitive scene on PS4, what their biggest challenges were for this season, and what moments they were most proud of during their undefeated run.
How does it feel to win yet another StepOne Legendary League season, now your third in a row?
“It feels good. Probably my favorite season so far, it was a tight race throughout. And definitely not an easy one, considering we had to fight a roster change mid-season.” – Colton “Bama” Mader
“I’ve been trying to win a StepOne season since S2 on Xbox, always got 3rd or 2nd so this being my first shows hard work pays off and I’m glad I could help them win their 3rd one in a row and be playing alongside them.” – Adonis “Wormy” Gioeli
What do you think sets you apart from the other teams on Playstation and enables you to continue your win streak?
“Our chemistry is killer, and we also are very communicative as well. We set high standards for our performance and work hard to achieve them, and if we fall short we work to avoid making the same mistakes again.” – Tony “Latrellers” Roscoe, Jr
“We communicate a lot, go over the small things and we always make sure were all on the same page. When all four of us are online we are all talking regardless what we are doing.” – Adonis “Wormy” Gioeli
What was the biggest challenge you faced this season?
“Our biggest challenge was finding a good fourth [teammate] for us and we overcame that well.” – Denver “Denvayy” Matlock
“The biggest challenge was playing against teams who scouted us and attempted to use our play style against us. Competing as well in the new metas, with new weapons and changes forced us to adapt in a variety of ways.” – Tony “Latrellers” Roscoe, Jr
Tell us the moment from this season that you are most proud of as a player or team.
“The moment I’m most proud of is going on a 14-game win streak with our new roster. It’s such a relief to still win games after going through such a big change.” – Colton “Bama” Mader
“Besides winning the league? When we found out that we were the number one ranked team for the first time in the season after chasing Streamer.” – Adonis “Wormy” Gioeli
Now that you are crowned 3x champs, how do you plan to remain on top of the PS4 competitive scene? How do you stay one step ahead of the competition?
“My advice: Always assume someone is better than you. There is never a limit to how good you can be. I always want to improve alongside our competition and that will never stop so as long as that mentality keeps ticking in our heads we wont ever let the competition pass us.” – Tony “Latrellers” Roscoe, Jr
“As a team, we are discussing our weak points and working to improve them in the offseason. Always striving for improvement!” – Denver “Denvayy” Matlock
